Cameron success or failure at EU?

The Prime Minister announced the support for moves to stop a 5.9% increase during a press conference in Brussels - where he also said he believed he was a Euro sceptic. However, I think we need to take this statement with a pinch of salt.

Cameron refuted suggestions that even a 2.9% increase could not be seen as a victory, in light of the £81 billion in domestic cuts being planned by his Government.

Cameron is walking a path that all his predecessors have done including, Brown, Major and Thatcher and Heath in trying to fool the general public that we need to be in the EU and that victory in negotiating with an unelected parliament in Brussels is something to be proud of.

Mr Nuttall, Chairman of UKIP says: "Mr Cameron has constructed his house out of the straws he has grabbed from the Brussels air. He wants the press to garland him in the wreaths of victory, as if he has actually achieved something. And what has he achieved in reality? Hundreds of millions in extra funding for the EU, and a promise based on something as flimsy as an opinion."

The UKIP chairman said that even if 2.9% were delivered, "it would be like a man rejoicing that the muggers had left him with his clothes and had only stolen our wallets".

The Bruges Group have provided some figures on the cost of the EU as follows:

*Over-regulation costs Britain at least £26 billion per annum

*The Common Agricultural Policy costs Britain at least £15.6 billion a year

*Since 1973 the UK has made contributions to the EC budget of almost £213.6 billion gross or £66.3 billion net, by 2013 this figure will have increased to £299.8 billion gross, or £102.2 billion net

*Britain's accumulated trade deficit with the other EU member states since we joined has risen to £359.5 billion This year membership of the European Union will cost Britain £60.1 billion gross, or £50.6 billion net

That is the equivalent for every man, women and child in Britain of over £1,000 per year gross or £843 net

If we really want to get out of debt in this country, then a good start would be getting out of the EU and taking control from Brussels. Perhaps then we can get back to the Christian standards and laws that were governing this Country. Anyone with me on this?
